Mission
Meadows Mennonite Retirement Community seeks to minister
to the
elderly in the belief that God desires older persons to
enjoy dignity,
respect, love and care.
History
Founded in 1919 and opened in 1923, Meadows was established
by
churches committed to caring for the elderly in need of support
services. This association of churches continues to be the
foundation
of Meadows’ ministry with the vital support and
partnership of the local
communities of Chenoa and Gridley.

Major additions to the building in the 1950s, 1960s, 1970s and
1990s have not only kept the facility up-to-date, but provided the
space for the development of levels of nursing care, dementia care
and skilled nursing care. The development of independent living
services in the 1970s led to a rural retirement village nestled on the
Central Illinois prairie.
These services have developed as a ministry fostered by the
Christian
commitments of service originally expressed by the
founding churches
and shared by the local communities.
