About Our Tree of Life

The Tree of Life is displayed on the wall in the West Entrance to Meadows Mennonite Home. The Tree of Life was made possible by donations from estate gifts of two donors, Leota Clausen and Elizabeth Sohn.  It is a beautifully hand carved original sculpture designed by renowned artist Sanford Werfel of New Jersey.

The sculpture incorporates a rendering of Jesus shepherding five
sheep at the base of the tree and has been made especially for
Meadows Mennonite Retirement Community.

The purpose of the Tree of Life is to provide recognition for families,
individuals, churches, organizations, and corporations for their
generous gifts to Meadows.  The tree contains 300 leaves made
of brushed satin finish engraver’s metal and 19 sculptured stones
made of walnut wood combined with a brass plate for donor
inscription.  The base of the tree is surrounded by the sculptured
stones.  Cut out brass doves will adorn the branches of the tree.
Each leaf, dove and stone will be engraved with donor’s name or
a memorial inscription, recognizing the various levels of giving.
