Endowments

Endowments are a part of the Development Program at Meadows Mennonite
Retirement Community (MMRC).  Endowment Funds at Meadows are
permanent funds from which only the annual income is expended for a
designated program.  Gifts to the endowment fund support donor’s interest
into perpetuity, provide financial stability for Meadows and help supply
assurance of program continuation.

All endowed funds are established by a written gift use agreement between
the donors and Meadows Mennonite Retirement Community. Endowment
gifts are invested prudently, in accordance with Meadows Mennonite
Retirement Community policies.  Earnings from the endowment will be
used for the purpose designated, consistent with institutional policies.

The Meadows Board of Directors has established an endowment fund for
the programs shown below. Donors may be interested in making a living or
deferred gift to one or more of these programs:

Alma Eymann Endowment - used for improvements to the grounds of
Meadows Mennonite Retirement Community such as shrubs, trees, and
flowers.
Arthur and Berdena King Endowment -
provides scholarship money
for staff of MMRC to attend seminars, conferences and other training
opportunities. The donors of this endowment recognized that helping staff
to improve and gain knowledge improves the quality of care available at
MRMC.
Clair Yordy Endowment - used for the replacement, maintenance and
additional purchasing of tools for the wood  working shop.
George and Clara Gundy Endowment -
used where needed most at
the discretion of the Board of Directors.  This named endowment was
established in gratitude to  administrators and their wives for living service
1923-2006.
Kuerth Endowment - used for improvements to the Station 2 lounge.
Nursing Home Resident Assistance Endowment -
used to financially
help close the gap between the actual cost of resident care and the amount
of payment received from the State of Illinois     for Medicaid recipients since
Meadows does not ask residents with inability to pay to leave.
Resident Assistance Endowment –used for Nursing Home Residents to
help close the gap financially between the actual cost of resident care and the
amount of payment received from the State of Illinois for Medicaid recipients.
These funds are needed because Meadows does not ask residents to leave
when their funds have run out.
Robert O. and Jody Bertsche Endowment - used for the Resident
Assistance Fund to financially help close the gap between the actual cost
of resident care and the amount of payment received from the State of Illinois
for Medicaid recipients.
Verle and Margaret Oyer Memorial Endowment - all income from this
endowment will be used for the benefit of Meadows Mennonite Retirement
Community (MMRC).  The donors will designate the specific use(s) of the
income for each calendar year, which shall be for one or more purposes
acceptable to the Board of Directors of MMRC.
Wagler Trust Endowment - income from the Wagler Trust is available to
use at the discretion of the Board of Directors. Some  examples of how the
funds have been used are for resident assistance, renovation and capital
projects to name a few.
